Due to today’s news that there is a confirmed case of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) in Miami County, KS, the decision has been made to cancel the UHCA races scheduled for this weekend, July 18-19,  in Cleveland, MO as a precautionary measure. The virus is primarily transmitted from biting insects including flies, but can also spread by nose-to-nose contact between animals. We are disappointed to have to cancel, but feel it’s necessary to ensure the health and safety of our member’s horses and our host’s facility. Watch for more information in the coming weeks about a rescheduled date for the events. Updates will be posted on our website and Facebook page.

For July, we are making a few schedule changes. The July 18 race originally scheduled to be held in Butler, MO, will now be held at Shane Irvin’s Ranch in Cleveland, MO. We are going to make this a two-day event at Irvin Ranch so we will have two separate races on July 18 and July 19 at the same location. You must register for each day separately. Primitive camping is welcome at no cost. Pens are $15/night. Contact Shane to reserve.

The October 3 event will be removed from the calendar. Thanks for your understanding as we rearrange things a bit and try to catch up on missed events.

We are very excited to be kicking off the 2020 season on June 13 and 14 at R Bar B! We can’t wait to see you. In order to comply with state and county guidelines and for the health and safety of our competitors, we’re doing things a little different for these events. We ask that you follow these social distancing guidelines if you are planning to attend.

    • We are REQUIRING that exhibitors pre-register online for these two events (register for each event separately). You can still pay when you get there and you will still need to sign a release form when checking in. If you are paying by check, you'll need 2 separate checks as we have 2 separate event hosts. If you don’t have online access, you can text your registration info to 913-837-6034 by Thursday, June 11.
    • We are requesting that you renew your membership or join online prior to attending the race.
    • Exhibitors will take their payment and signed release form to the registration table to check in. When waiting in line, observe social distancing guidelines. Please do not congregate near the registration table or concession area. Only one person per family should come to the registration table to pay/check-in. The Event Secretary will also be available Friday evening to take payments/release forms. You can print a copy of the Release Form here.
    • Please observe social distancing guidelines of 6 feet as much as possible and be mindful of respecting others’ space. Spectators beyond immediate family of exhibitors at these two events are discouraged. If you are ill or have been recently ill, please DO NOT attend these events and put others at risk. Exhibitors and spectators/family members attend at their own risk.
    • Wearing of a mask is welcome, but not required. Please wash your hands frequently and refrain from shaking hands or hugging other individuals. Hand sanitizer will be available in areas around the concessions and registration table.
    • Exhibitors that are planning to camp overnight should also plan to observe the 6-foot distancing guidelines during non-event times and be mindful of respecting others’ space. Organizing potlucks between campers is discouraged.

We realize that these guidelines may seem extreme, but we really want to make sure everyone stays healthy and we can continue to have events throughout the season. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we all try to make the best of an unusual situation.

We now have new date for the Mid-Central Horsemen race that was originally scheduled for May 16 in Maryville, MO. The Mid-Central Horsemen’s event will now be held on SUNDAY, JUNE 14 at R BAR B the day following the R Bar B event on June 13. There will be a cattle sorting event on Saturday night, so plan to make a weekend of it and let’s get this season kicked off right!

There are a few changes that will be in effect for these two races...

We are REQUIRING that exhibitors pre-register online for these two events (register for each event separately). You can still pay when you get there and you will still need to sign a release form when checking in. If you are paying by check, you'll need 2 separate checks as we have 2 separate event hosts. Due to the COVID-19 situation, we will observe any social distancing guidelines in place at the time. We may have alternative registration procedures in place depending on current state regulations.

Spectators beyond immediate family of exhibitors at these two events are discouraged so that we can attempt to stay under the 90 person limitation on gatherings should it still be in effect for Kansas. Exhibitors and spectators/family members attend at their own risk. If you are ill or have been recently ill, please DO NOT attend these events and put others at risk.

Primitive camping is available at no extra cost. Concession stand, showers, and rest rooms available. Pens are $15/night, contact R Bar B at 785-286-3006 to reserve.

    Register for R Bar B: http://ultimatehca.com/event-3682844

    Register for Mid-Central Horsemen: http://ultimatehca.com/event-3682851

We hope you are all well and staying healthy. Please watch the website and Facebook for any further updates. We'll continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and keep you informed regarding any changes.

While we were excited about seeing our UHCA family at the end of April for our first two races at Eagle Ranch, we unfortunately have to reschedule these events due to risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The events will be postponed until October 17-18. If you have made reservations at Eagle Ranch, they will be automatically transferred to the new weekend. If you need to cancel your reservation, please reach out to Eagle Ranch directly at (417) 275-1105. If you have pre-entered, you do not need to re-enter.

Due to the closing of the venue for the Mid-Central Horsemen’s event in Maryville, MO, on May 16, we regretfully have to postpone that event as well. Information regarding a new date will be forthcoming.

We hope you are all well and staying healthy. We encourage you to spend this time of social distancing improving your horsemanship and building your relationship with your horse if you are able.

The beginning of each year brings self-promises of improving our riding, learning a new discipline, honing our horsemanship, or finding a new trainer. If any of these New Year’s resolutions sound familiar, mark your calendar for the Ultimate Riding Resolutions Workshop and Top Horse Competition, February 15, 2020, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Community Arena.

This event will feature mini-instructional workshops by four top trainers in the region that specialize in disciplines related to extreme cowboy racing and obstacle challenges. Come see what cowboy racing is all about and how to get that competitive edge!

Throughout the day, eight riders will compete for the coveted Top Horse title (a previous fan favorite at EquiFest). The UHCA Top Horse Competition will feature a jumping derby, an obstacle challenge, and a freestyle event.

A variety of vendors will also be on hand with quality tack and other products or services. So, fast track your goals in February and join us for this surefire remedy for the winter blues.
