As of now, the Better Equine Fun event in Paola, KS this Saturday is still on as scheduled. The Buckaroo/Youth/Novice/Classic course is in an arena and the ground is not too saturated yet for either course. Paola was pretty dry before the rain started, so the ground is soaking it up pretty well. We'll keep you posted here and on our Facebook page if anything changes. This won't be the first time we've gotten a litte mud on our boots.

100 entries!! What a great turnout for the UHCA Race at Butler, MO. The Bates County Sheriff's Posse put on a fine event once again. Scott Simms and Josh Rushing did a great job designing the challenging and exciting courses. We welcomed several new members and could not have asked for a nicer day.  Results,  year-end points and pictures have all been posted to the website.

    UHCA Family:

We are halfway through our 2013 races. It seems we went from a monsoon season to 90 plus degrees in just a few days. Several of the early events have been wet and muddy. In the first four races we have had three new venues and race hosts. This is a very good trend for our organization.

We have four races left--Bates County Sherriff’s Posse, Butler, MO (7/13/13); Better Equine Fun, Paola, KS (8/10/13); Saddle and Sirloin, Kansas City, MO (8/24/13); and Mahaffie (9/28 & 9/29) in Olathe, KS. All of these courses should be extremely tough. The last event of the year is a “club race”--all profits go directly to UHCA to help support year-end awards. We are in need of volunteers to help out at the Mahaffie event. Please let me know if you would be willing to help out in any way.

I am very happy with the direction UHCA is going. The 2013 Board set several goals for this season.

    1. Launch a new website
    2. Increase our membership
    3. Increase the average number of riders at each race
    4. Add new hosts

If you haven’t seen it yet, the new website is fantastic. Thank you, Melanie Dolechek and Linda Scheutz. Our membership has increased over last year by 19 and it looks like we are on pace to have more UHCA members than ever before. The average number of entries has also increased through the first four races and half of this year’s events will be hosted at new venues.

Great job by everyone! Keep telling other horse people about UHCA. I am very proud to be associated with all of you and UHCA.

Thanks to R Bar B and Greg and Linda Scheutz for an outstanding event on June 22. We had a record 108 entries and two great courses to challenge our skills. Lots of new faces and even more familiar friends. Results and year-end points have been posted. Don’t forget, members will need to log in first to view year-end points. Your username is your email address and your password (unless you’ve already changed it) is the first four letters of your last name followed by the last three digits of your membership number (example: Last123). We hope to see everyone at the Bates County Sheriff’s Posse Event in Butler, MO, on July 13! Check back in a couple of days to view photos from the R Bar B event.
